The annual pilgrimage to the Parc Floral de Paris has become an event through which I celebrate the change of seasons. I know that I know - I mean, I learned this in school, as you probably did too - that the seasons happen because the Earth’s axis is tilted as it revolves around the Sun. Yet, while searching for inspiration in my own jottings on what to draw, I found a note scribbled in my phone simply saying: “Seasons exist because everything moves in circles.” I have no idea what provoked this deep thought, right, but I liked it when I read it: circular motion is what brings dahlias back into my life. Every fall, there is a Concours International du Dahlia in the Bois de Vincennes (of which the Parc Floral is part), and, as every decent witch should, I go there to celebrate them - the dahlias, autumn, and circles.
