I often find creativity within the limits of certain materials, paper sizes, paper types... It’s actually pretty easy to find limits if you decide to look for them. But you can also go in the other direction—the direction of experimentation and expansion, of ignoring the limits.
In this 30-minute tutorial, I’ll show you how to approach the popular Neocolor II by Caran d’Ache. Recently, I painted small portraits at the American Library in Paris gala, and they were a hit! The inspiration came from my book, but I needed a less messy alternative to classic watercolors (which I love) to suit the elegant atmosphere of the evening. These little color sticks turned out to be the perfect choice!
Below are the materials I used (also explained in the video), but feel free to paint along and improvise with whatever (Neo)colors II you have. There are no mistakes!
